Stream 2: Healthy Projects & initiatives grants
About this grant stream
Healthy Projects and Initiatives Grants support community-led projects that improve health, wellbeing, participation and connection in TSRA Communities.
TSRA Communities means communities across the Torres Strait and the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) communities of Bamaga and Seisia.
This stream supports healthy lifestyle initiatives that may sit outside formal sport, including healthy eating, social and emotional wellbeing, youth development, cultural wellbeing, prevention activities, family participation and local workshops or events that encourage healthy choices.
Key objectives
The key objectives of the Healthy Projects and Initiatives Grants are to:
Support local health, wellbeing, participation and connection projects
Encourage healthy eating, active lifestyles and preventative health activities
Support local or placed-based activities that directly strengthen culture, leading to improved health and social and emotional wellbeing outcomes
Encourage inclusive participation by children, young people, women, men, Elders, families and people with disability;
Support community-led activities that respond to local priorities
Strengthen local confidence, capability and collaboration around health and wellbeing
The total annual allocation for Healthy Projects and Initiatives Grants is $200,000.
Funding is subject to available funds, continued TSRA funding approval, and the terms of the agreement between TSRA and GBK. Meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee funding.
We anticipate there will be three types of grants:
Small activity grants - up to $5,000
Larger activity or event grants - up to $10,000
Regional participation activities - Above $10,000
Applicants can apply for a maximum amount of $50,000, though it is anticipated most grants will be less than $10,000.
GBK may approve partial funding, remove ineligible costs or request a revised budget before issuing a funding agreement.
