Please read the grant guidelines before starting your application.
For a strong application, we recommend you have the following.

This is a clear summary of your project and includes:
The purpose of your project
The activities you will deliver
The community need your project addresses
Who will benefit
Expected outcomes for Torres Strait and/or NPA communities
Simple projects may only require around 150 words, but for more complex projects, you can upload additional documents such as workplans, schedules, and/or risk plans.

List all costs associated with your project.
Strong budgets include evidence like:
Supplier quotes
Letters confirming partner contributions
Evidence of co-funding or in-kind support
Partnership agreements
For larger grants, you can upload a spreadsheet with a detailed budget.

GBK assesses applications against three main criteria. In the online application form, respond to each criterion, using about 150 words for each section.
Criterion 1 – Alignment with Program Goals
Explain how your project supports the Healthy Communities Program. Describe how your activity promotes health, wellbeing, connection, and resilience.
Criterion 2 – Ability to Deliver
Demonstrate that your organisation has the capability to carry out the project effectively. Include relevant experience, team skills, partnerships, and examples of similar work.
Criterion 3 – Value for Money and Community Impact
Explain why your project is a good investment. Include in-kind contributions, volunteer time, partner support, and the long-term benefits for community.

We recommend including supporting documentation to strengthen your application. This might include:
Quotes
Letters of support
Partnership agreements
Project plans
Evidence of cash or in-kind contributions
Photos and/or case studies of current and/or past activities
Upload all supporting documents through the online portal
You will also be required to supply key information. Use this checklist to make sure you have everything you need for your application.
