When & how to apply
Grant rounds
GBK runs a minimum of two Healthy Communities grant rounds each year. During each round, eligible community organisations can apply for funding to deliver health-promoting, wellbeing-focused, and community-strengthening activities across the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area (NPA).
our current grant round is open, and closes on 31 January 2026.
Late applications
Applications must be submitted before the stated closing time.
If unavoidable circumstances arise, you may request an extension before the closing date.
Extensions are not guaranteed and are granted only in exceptional situations.
Out-of-round grant requests
If a grant round is not currently open, you can still contact GBK’s Healthy Communities Team to discuss your idea.
If your project aligns with program goals and unallocated funding is available, GBK may invite you to submit an application outside of a formal grant round.
Invitations to apply outside a round are not guaranteed. Eligibility, priority areas, and available funding will determine whether GBK can progress your request.
Assessment for out-of-round requests can take up to 3 months.
If your activity has a fixed start date, contact us as early as possible to discuss timelines and options. GBK may not be able to assess late requests where insufficient time is available.
All GBK Healthy Communities grant applications must be submitted through our online application portal.
You will need access to a computer or smart device and an internet connection.
For a strong application, we recommend you gather the following:
